SQUADRON BLOG
In an effort to upgrade the quality of our website, the Home Page has been reduced in size with much of the content moving to our Blog. The Blog is simply an ongoing summary of the Squadron’s activities and reports of interest. Link here, or in the lefthand sidebar. Feedback on on the Blog and on the Home Page will be appreciated. E-Mail.
2009-2010 PLANNING
With MCAA’s move from Fall to Spring, the logical move for Squadron-235’s mini gathering would be from Spring to Fall. There seems to be little interest among members in MCAA ’09 in Reno in October so the question is: do we want a gathering in October or November of 2009 on the heels of our May Charleston mini? Your input is requested on the following: 1. Do we want to have a Fall ’09 mini? 2. If we do, where and when? The Blue Angels Pensacola Homecoming show is Friday 13 November. That would make PNS a possibility if we opt for this Fall.
The year 2010 will be the 235th birthday of the Corps. In keeping with this it has been proposed that we have our 2010 mini at (or near) the site of Tun Tavern in Philadelphia on (or near) 10 November 2010. Your input on this will also be appreciated. Please communicate your comments and ideas to Tom, Jim or Hondo.
BLAST FROM THE PAST
From the July 1962 issue of The Jet Stream, MCAS Beaufort: Russ Miller gets his gold oak leaves pinned on by Jane and Col. Jesse Booker. Steve Foley gets 1st Lieutenant bars from Col. Booker and Maj. Frank Smoke. See it here.

FALL SANIBEL MINI GREAT SUCCESS
FORT WORTH MCAA - 20-23 MAY 2010
The first Spring MCAA Symposium was a great success. Upon arrival, the Squadron upgraded the Ready Room suite to 1060 at the Sheraton and opened our doors at noon on Thursday, 20 May 2010. The Squadron dinner at Shula’s 347 Grill was excellent.
The industry exhibits were plentiful and interesting, as were the briefings on aircraft, equipment and current operations. The weekend was capped off with the Awards Banquet Saturday evening. Photos here.
Discussion was held regarding site selection for the Fall mini gathering. Several locations were suggested, Santa Fe, Philadelphia, and Branson among them. All input is appreciated.

YOUR HELP NEEDED FOR INFORMATION ON COL. GEORGE GIBSON
I’m trying to find any additional information about Commanding Officer, Col George A. Gibson • Dec 1964-Jun 1966
He was a very dear friend and a charter member of our Marine Corps League Detachment, located in Aiken, SC.
George passed away on Mar. 9, 2008 to the sorrow of his family and the Detachment’s membership. If there is any way to find additional stories or information from any of your members that might remember this fine Marine, please direct them to:
